Autumn sunshine welcomed 12 Cranham Scouts Beavers group and their Leaders and parents to BCCS to find all about compost and especially the biodiversity in the soil. Most of their parents already made compost and many knew about growing their own vegetables so they were a pretty experienced crew. They especially enjoyed getting their hands dirty, looking through magnifying glasses at ‘life in the soil’ , identifying the worms and other tiny lives that help make a living compost, and loved our Home Composting Demonstration area – the Bindweed “Ball” that they helped roll around to compost the bindweed in our experiment, and the Wormeries.
